Valley Oil is a very unethical company. On several occassions they have made large oil deliveries after my fixed price contract expired and charged me an exorbitant fee. I was able to negotiate a better price, however, it was quite clear that they engage in this unethical practice at the detriment of its unsuspecting customers. I filed a complaint with the Department of Consumer Protection.
Appartently, this has not been an isolated incident based upon the below information from the Hartford Courant.

Q: For the last few years we have had Valley Oil in Portland deliver oil to our home. On April 27, they delivered 133 gallons at $4.799 a gallon. I thought the price was high, and when I checked with three other local suppliers, it was $1 a gallon over what others were charging.
Checking online, at a site called NewEnglandOil.com, I found prices ranging from $3.63 to $3.99 for that date. When I called Valley Oil, they said that was their price. Anyway, I canceled my account with them, paid the bill and signed up with a different supplier.
