More details
- Mission
- The University of Alaska Southeast is an exciting place to attend college. Our faculty and staff are dedicated to your success. They believe in bringing you out of the classroom to gain experience in your chosen field. Our location in Alaska's capital gives us access to internships with governmental agencies from the Legislature to the Department of Fish and Game or Health and Human Services. Juneau's thriving businesses give our students opportunities to sample many different career fields. UAS is surrounded by the last great expanse of temperate rainforest left in North America and our programs are designed with that in mind. The Tongass National Forest is our living classroom. It is a place in which our students find solace, inspiration and opportunities to be challenged both academically and physically. Students can find the Mendenhall Glacier, the shores of the Inside Passage and stands of old growth forest all within three miles of campus. UAS is dedicated to providing the best liberal arts education, because the liberal arts strengthen the skills and traits that employers and graduate programs covet, such as clear and effective writing, good communication and collaboration skills. These competencies are the foundation for a solid career in any sector of the workforce. At UAS we want to help you get your first job, but we also want to give you the tools to build a satisfying career.
