Company description
Wyman Poe...
has spent his lifetime in the management of purebred ranches, providing nutritional requirements, planning genetic mating and marketing progeny and ranch names. This chosen life path followed the same way of life his father, Allen Poe and maternal grandfather, Wesley Woodard charted in the early 1950's. Their desire to produce superior cattle and operate a ranching enterprise profitably was observed and instilled in Wyman at a very early age.
Animal technology was in its infant years when Wyman first watched artificial insemination with bull semen in a herd of Hereford cows in the late 50's. This semen was kept frozen with dry ice and stored in their deep freezer. That observation at a young age developed into valuable experience while in junior high and high school working on the ranch that his father was a partial owner and managed. After graduating with his animal science degree from Abilene Christian University in 1975, he was employed by Bates Limousin Ranch. He was responsible for the everyday ranch management, breeding decisions and implementing bull sales and production sales. Up to 1000 cows per year were artificially inseminated with bull semen that had made significant progress in both collection and freezing techniques in that 20 year period.
