The world renowned Chapman School of Seamanship offers training programs to prepare students for a career at sea as well as recreational training for men, women, and children. Through the School's "Learn at the Helm" teaching techniques, the skills learned in the classroom are put into practical application "hands on" aboard the Chapman School training vessels as well as in the training labs.
Courses offered for the Career Student include Professional Maritime Training, numerous International Maritime Organization Compliance Programs, Marine Surveying, and USCG Licensing courses through the 200 GRT.
Recreational courses include our multi level Chapman Powerboat Certification courses, Maritime Training for advance cruising, Summer Boating for Youth (four levels), American Sailing Association certifications level 101- 107, and Private Instruction.
The Chapman School of Seamanship was founded in 1971, by the late Charles F. Chapman, author of Chapman's Piloting, the "bible of boating", and the late Captain Glen D. Castle who created this unique School.
