Winter activities include downhill and cross-country skiing, night-time ski jumping and snow tubing, snowmobile tours, ice climbing, sleigh rides, dog sledding, showshoeing, ice fishing, bi-plane and glider rides, and mineral hot baths. Steamboat Health and Recreation, located three miles away in downtown Steamboat Springs, offers a hot-springs facility, lap pool, water slide, exercise room, massage therapy, fitness classes, and daily memberships. Howelson Hill Recreation Area, also downtown, offers alpine skiing along with 20- to 90-meter jumps, an ice rink, snow rafting, and during summer, an alpine slide. Summer activities include golf at four area courses, hiking, rock climbing, tennis, four-wheel drive tours, photography tours, hot-air balloon rides, fishing, miniature golf, horseback riding, kayaking, biking, river rafting, llama treks, gondola rides, guided nature walks, mineral hot baths, and cattle drives. The condominiums are located under the Silver Bullet Gondola in the mountain village. The resort is topped by 10,568-foot Mt. Werner, and has a 3,668-foot vertical drop and 2,939 skiable acres with 142 trails: 13 percent beginner, 56 percent intermediate and 31 percent advanced. They are accessible by 25 lifts, including a gondola and four high-speed quads. The average snowfall is 337 inches (in January, an average of 95 inches is champagne powder) thanks to the resort’s location on the windward side of the Park Range, right before the Continental Divide.
