This page is about Shuck Memorial Baptist & West Point Baptist both churches in the American Baptist tradition. The churches are located in or near Lewisburg in the beautiful Greenbrier Valley in southern West Virginia. These churches are affiliated with the American Baptist Churches, U.S.A., the West Virginia Baptist Convention, and the Greenbrier Baptist Association. Shuck Memorial was founded in 1927 in the Lewisburg community. The Shuck Memorial Baptist Church was named in honor of Jehu Lewis Shuck, a Lewisburg native who became an early Baptist missionary to China. West Point Baptist Church was founded in Asbury in 1858 on the West Point of a ridge. It was later moved to its present location, but it continued to keep the name of West Point.
