Rex Witkamp is Scuba Medic: a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor, an Emergency First Response CPR Instructor and a Paramedic/Firefighter. His love for the water started when he learned how to swim before learning how to walk. In his early childhood, Rex took deep amazement and delight in watching National Geographic specials featuring Jacques Cousteau. Since then, he has maintained a great respect and love of the ocean environment and aquatic sports his whole life. A native of North Florida, Rex grew up fishing and surfing right here in St Augustine. After initially pursuing a degree in Marine Biology, Rex was certified in scuba diving in 1999. In 2008, Rex began a career as a civil service Federal Firefighter for the Department of Navy. He then became a State and Nationally Registered Paramedic and is a certified Emergency First Response CPR Instructor. Duty brought Rex to serve overseas in Italy and then to Guam. Rex’s dive experiences include the Marquesas Keys, Bimini Bahamas, Guam and the Mariannas, and the many spring dives of Florida.
