Pace African & Oceanic Art's Director Carlo Bella hails from Milan, Italy where his family of gallerists, artists and collectors fueled his love of art.
In 1983 he graduated from NYU with a degree in political science and art history. A year later he joined Pace. In 1986, Carlo created the Old Master Print department at Pace Prints which he ran until 2002 when he became the Director of Pace African & Oceanic Art.
Drawing on his knowledge and collecting of traditional, antique African art for over 30 years, Carlo has led Pace African & Oceanic Art into the 21st century adapting the gallery to an ever-changing art market. Carlo continues to cultivate his knowledge and passion for African and Oceanic art through his travels abroad.
