Founded in 2014, Nickel & Suede was started by a husband and wife team, Soren and Kilee, that pioneered the leather teardrop earring. While searching for the perfect earring color and shape at home one evening, Kilee remembered the most beautiful leather piece that would complement her outfit perfectly. She quickly retrieved it and cut out the teardrop shape of her favorite metal earrings.
After attaching some hooks and trying them on, she experienced a life changing thought — her earrings were so soft and light, she couldn’t believe how comfortable they were! With such a dynamic sense of movement, every step ensured the earrings captured the attention of everyone around her.
As the originator of leather teardrop earrings, Nickel & Suede saw a massive surge of popularity. Continuing their trend as pioneers, the founders released several new, unique earring shapes, as well as a line of chokers, cuffs, and clothing basics that work together in harmony to create sophisticated, effortless outfits.
