Company description
Proven Grand Rapids business attorney Les Morant established Morant Law to help business owners protect their company’s best interests. Actively litigating cases throughout greater Grand Rapids and Chigaco for over 20 years, Morant provides a wealth of experience in commercial litigation, business disputes, corporate dissolution and real property disputes.
After obtaining his undergraduate degree in Government Studies from Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire, Morant worked as a paralegal for firms in Washington D.C., San Francisco and Chicago before earning his law degree from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. After law school, he started his career in Chicago and moved his practice to Grand Rapids almost 15 years ago.
Morant’s first experience as a licensed attorney came quickly after graduation as he represented and counseled large regional and international law firms in the windy city. After several years there, Morant moved his family to Grand Rapids in 2004 to be closer to relatives — although he retained his license to practice law in Illinois. Morant spent almost ten years at Law Weathers before partnering with attorney Kristin Britt to form the firm Britt Morant. After several years at Britt Morant, he left to start his own law firm, Morant Law.
Morant has lived and travelled all over the world with his father, a soldier in the U.S. Army who served two tours in Vietnam — allowing him to provide a global perspective to many of his business clients. After living in France and Germany as a young boy and later Hawaii, Virginia, New Jersey, Maryland, Illinois and California, Morant has come to appreciate the wonderful family atmosphere and small community feel of West Michigan.
In recent years, Morant’s specialization broadened to include a significant amount of probate litigation, employment law matters, municipal litigation, copyright and trademark disputes, arbitration, ADR matters and construction cases. In addition, he has developed a particular expertise in representing forwarding and collateral recovery companies in all aspects of their business and regulatory needs. Morant and his wife Natalie, who grew up in Ada, have two children, Will and Pier.
