- Founded in 1872, Maryville University is a private coeducational institution that serves approximately 3,500 students and offers approximately 50 undergraduate programs, including actuarial science, music therapy, internet marketing, and elementary education. Maryville also offers nine master's degree programs in arts and sciences, education, business administration and the health professions; and three doctoral degree programs in educational leadership, nursing practice, and physical therapy. Maryville University prepares its students for successful and meaningful careers by offering programs that integrate the liberal arts with professional studies. For every specialized program that Maryville offers, the program holds the highest possible accreditation. The first university in the St. Louis area to offer weekend classes to working adults in 1981, Maryville continues its commitment to adult students by offering 17 different undergraduate and graduate programs. Classes are offered at Maryville's main campus in West St. Louis County as well as at its satellite campuses in Fenton and Lake St. Louis, Missouri. Maryville has a thriving on-campus residential student population with a new dormitory opening at the start of the 2010 fall semester. To supplement students' academic experience, Maryville offers more than 50 student organizations that provide a variety of involvement opportunities. The University has reclassified to NCAA Division II athletics starting with the 2009-2010 academic year and offers 14 men's and women's varsity sports. More than 82 percent of graduates who recently responded to a survey are employed or attending graduate school.
