Company description
Whitefeather Gallery is owned and operated by Mary M. Smith and her son, Dickens G. Smith. Local Greenvillians, they hope to bring a taste for Western art here to the upstate. Mary spent twenty years painting privately commissioned portraits, but the last six years she has painted the Native American, which has become her passion. Her work is deeply spiritual, capturing the every day moments of artisans, the bead makers, the weavers, the women painting their pots, as well as the Indian at work, getting water or caring for children, men on horseback bringing in their sheep. There is a little Indian in many Americans, and their poignant history does not fail to touch each of us deeply in some way or another. Come in and meet the staff at the gallery, and get a feel for what they are doing.
