Company description
I began teaching yoga in 2003. In 2005, I completed a 200-hour course in yoga teacher training from Integrative Yoga Therapy at the Arsha Vidya Gurukulam in Saylorsburg, Pennsylvania, and also earned certification in prenatal yoga through Bonnie Berk's Mother well Yoga in Carlisle, Pennsylvania.
In 2007, I received a 500-hour certification as a professional yoga therapist, also through Integrative Yoga Therapy at the Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health in Stockbridge, Massachusetts, and Enchanted Mountain Yoga Center in Garopaba, Santa Catarina, Brazil. I am a member of the International Association of Yoga Therapists and the Yoga Alliance, both of which recognize my certifications. I also have a BA in English and a BS in Physical Education.
I taught yoga at the YMCA of Carlisle, Pennsylvania, for two years and the Allegheny Valley YMCA for three years in Natrona Heights, Pennsylvania. In addition to seeing private clients as a yoga therapist, I was also an instructor at two wellness centers in Pennsylvania. For the past six years in Morgantown I have taught classes for the Village at Heritage Point, WVU's Student Recreation Center, and Healthworks.
I discovered yoga in 1996 as I was recovering from a car accident, and it has been an integral part of my life since then. Regular practice has sustained me through several orthopedic surgeries and recoveries. Yoga also helps to keep me centered and serene, both necessities in the confines of a busy schedule that includes raising my five-year-old daughter.
Yoga is a great activity for everyone regardless of age or fitness level. The practice of yoga reduces stress, calms the spirit, and provides many health benefits. As a trained yoga therapist, I am able to provide individualized support and encouragement within my classes.
