Company description
KLA is a dynamic, developmentally appropriate program that is inspired by the Reggio Emilia philosophy to early childhood education.
We see each child as a competent, powerful, curious, and creative individual. Our school educators trust that the play the children engage in has value. They see play as a tool that children use as they explore and attempt to make sense of their world. Through play children test their ideas, solve problems, and find joy in their activities.
Roberto Ortega, his wife, Candy, his cousins Jorge, Jose Luis, Maria Velez and a group of investors and educators led by Luis Isaias opened the first KLA School in Miami, FL, in 2008. For Roberto and Candy, the desire to provide an inspiring curriculum, a nurturing environment, and high quality education to pre-school students across America was deeply rooted.
We researched many great philosophers and were most influenced by Jean Piaget’s Constructivist Theory and Lev Vygotsky’s Socio-Constructivist Theory, as well as the works of John Dewey on the importance of bringing students’ past experiences into the classroom. The works of Jerome Bruner and Paulo Freire also amazed us. We share the belief that each person constructs his or her own intelligence through direct interaction with the environment and social groups.
