Although Dr. Ashla Martin is a native of Louisiana, she is officially a proud Texan now! She received a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Biology and minor in Chemistry from Xavier University of Louisiana in New Orleans, LA. In addition, Dr. Martin obtained a Doctorate of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Tennessee College of Dentistry. She completed a pediatric residency at Louisiana State University Health Science Center where she gained extensive training providing care for infants, adolescents, teens, and patients with special needs, as well as administration of oral conscious sedation. Moreover, Dr. Martin received a General Practice Residency certificate at Louisiana State University where she became proficient in IV conscious sedation and providing treatment with hospital dentistry. Dr. Martin was awarded Diplomate status by the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, which is the highest honor achieved by a pediatric dentist. She is a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, American Dental Association, Southwestern Society of Pediatric Dentistry, and Texas Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. Furthermore, she is on the medical staff at Cook's Children's Hospital where she is on-call to provide emergent care for pediatric patients after hours. Dr. Martin takes every opportunity to give back to her community and to care for children. She volunteers regularly with Give Kids a Smile, Special Kids Olympics, and the daycare facility at her church. Dr. Martin has traveled to both Africa and Nicaragua for dental missionary work and to volunteer in orphanages. She is a foodie who enjoys cooking, making healthy recipes, exploring new restaurants, and attending cooking classes. Dr. Martin also enjoys shopping and traveling, especially if it involves getting a new stamp on her passport! Dr. Martin and her team would like to show you their heart and to let you know that your child's smile is their top priority.
