I went into Johnson's furniture today looking to buy a sectional. I asked them online in writing if they had a military discount, to which I was told yes they did offer a military discount. They are also advertising "we pay the sales tax" promotion online and with large signs at location. I looked all over the sign and video and website for any kind of mark saying that exclusions apply. Not only does it not show exclusions, it actually advertises that it doesn't matter how much the price is! When I went in today to buy a sectional I have been looking at for a few weeks, I had cash in my wallet to buy it on the spot. The salesman then started telling me how I couldn't use my military discount on this, so Johnson's only appreciates the military sometimes? That feels like a slap in the face to the three deployments I did in Iraq. Then after that he also tells me that this sofa didn't qualify for the "no sales tax". That is 2 huge things that are unacceptable. Not sure if that falls under fraud, false advertising, or bait and switch. Whatever it is, it is unethical.
