Company description
Our business started in 1973 when Joe and Harriet (hence J & H) opened a small coin shop. In 1980 gold started to increase in value and customers started coming in to sell their unwanted jewelry. Always having an eye for the unusual, Harriet started setting aside the more beautiful pieces that came in and started to sell them. That was when the jewelry store started.
Since then, Lisa, their daughter has taken over. She is a G.I.A Graduate Gemelogist with over 30 years experience. Before the store, she worked at I.G.I. (International Gemelogical Institute, in New York City) in the appraisal department (the largest appraisal department in the world) as the Lab Director for 8 years. Like her mother, she has an eye for the unusual. She moved next door to a bigger store and filled it with the most beautiful new and antique jewelry she could find. Lisa still goes to all the estate sales and trade shows to hunt out the pieces she feels will thrill her customers. She also started an online store Etsy.com. (Look for jandhjewelry on Etsy).
Ann, our expert jeweler, joined us in 2006. Ann never ceases to amaze our customers with her precise, meticulous repairs and bright ideas. Along with standard soldering and watch batteries, Ann is also adept at diamond setting, pearl and bead restringing, and hates to say no. She'll think of some way to fix your jewelry when everyone else says it can't be done!
