After bringing the Kansas City Chiefs Football Club to Kansas City in 1963, Lamar Hunt wanted to reinvest in the local community that embraced the team. Lamar created an operating company that ultimately included real estate, entertainment and mining activities. With the merger of Great Midwest Corporation and Mid-America Enterprises in 1985, Hunt Midwest Enterprises was created.
