- Since 1883, Houghton College has provided a residential educational experience that integrates high-quality academic instruction with the Christian faith. Houghton is selective in admission, attracting a very capable student body from 25 countries and 40 states. The college receives widespread national recognition for the quality of its student profile, faculty, and facilities. Enrolling 1,200 full-time students, Houghton is located on a beautiful 1,300-acre campus in western New York. The college???s campus includes a 386-acre equestrian center as well as cross-country and downhill ski trails. Houghton???s campus combines classic-style architecture with state-of-the-art technology and facilities, including a campus-wide computer network and wireless Internet access. Houghton???s traditional liberal arts curriculum offers more than 40 majors and programs. Numerous study abroad programs are available, including Houghton???s own offerings in Tanzania, Eastern Europe,and London. Houghton's innovative First-Year Honors Program offers highly qualified students the opportunity to study in England or central Europe during their first year. The Science Honors Program offers an innovative problem-driven curriculum that takes an interdisciplinary approach to solving important real-world problems. There is a strong pre-professional orientation, with 30 to 35 percent of graduates moving on to graduate or professional school upon graduation. Houghton alumni can be found teaching at 175 colleges and universities around the United States and abroad.
