Dr. Hamid Mir is a board certified orthopedic spine surgeon with fellowship training in combined neuro and orthopedic spine surgery techniques. He has 15 years of experience in minimally invasive spine surgeries using advanced microscopic techniques.
Dr. Mir graduated magna cum laude from the University of California, San Diego with a B.S. in biochemistry and cell biology in 1994. He then attended medical school at State University of New York, HSCB where he graduated cum laude and was elected to the prestigious Alpha Omega Honor Medical Society. Braving the intense cold, he completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Illinois at Chicago. He received extensive specialized training in the treatment of complex adult deformities and pediatric scoliosis at Shriners Hospital. In 2004, he completed an intensive orthopedic and neurosurgical spine surgery fellowship at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
Dr. Mir is passionate about advancing the field of spine surgery and committed to incorporating only the best state of the art techniques in his practice. In fact, Dr Mir developed and patented a minimally invasive spinal device. He has an extensive background in research and has authored multiple abstracts in peer-reviewed journals as well as presented posterior cervical fusion techniques at the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, a national conference. He has authored several textbook chapters on “Anterior Cervical System”; Surgical Techniques in Spinal Instrumentation and “The Unconstrained Implant”; Non-Fusion Techniques for the Spine. Dr. Mir is an active member of the following organizations: North American Spine Society (NASS), American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS), and California Orthopaedic Association (COA).
