What’s in a Name (Plate)?
There’s a lot that goes into creating name plates. Name plates are often overlooked because they’re on the back of chairs, sides of cabinets or hidden away somewhere on a product. But, don’t be fooled. Name plates are all around you.
Think of a name plate as a name tag, like the sticky ones everyone wears when they attend meetings or parent-teacher days. A name tag is just something that labels a person, making it easy for others to remember his or her name. A name plate does the same thing—it labels an object, either in numbers, letters, graphics or a combination of all. Think of a large stadium with tens of thousands of seats. How difficult would it be for people to find their seats without the small “32A” or “Row C” tags. If each chair or row lacked a tag, how would people find their seats? lt would require people to memorize the stadium’s seats before they got there and remember their seat without any help. Point being, name plates are necessary. Extremely necessary.
