- Campsites may be reserved over the Internet. A reservation guarantees a site in the campground reserved but not a specific site within the campground. Sites are assigned at check-in to best meet the needs of the campers. Cabins are now reservable. Shelters amphitheater must be rented through the Reservation Center but availability can be checked over the Internet. Cabins: Weekly rentals are required between Memorial Day weekend and Labor Day weekend and begin on Saturday or Sunday. There are twenty cabins of various sizes including one room efficiency cabins, one bedroom cabins, and two bedroom cabins. Swimming and boat launching free for overnight guests. Late arrivals for cabin keys: Guests arriving after 4 pm are advised to call the park to arrange for key pickup. Two vehicles per cabin allowed. Others must park in parking area and pay parking fees. Firewood is provided; extra firewood is available for a nominal fee. Cabins 17 and 19 are handicapped accessible inside and offer wide doors (and rest on level ground), but lack ramps. Cabins 14-20 have handicapped accessible bathrooms. Cabin seven has largest floor area. Cabin five has bunk beds instead of single beds. These cabins have open porches: #1-5, 7, 9, 14-20. These cabins have decks: #6, 8, 9-20. It accommodates 15 and is fully handicapped accessible. There are six bedrooms. TV/VCR and telephone in living area. Stone patio/porch. Large deck and picnic shelter; washer and dryer; gas grill; horseshoe pits (bring your own horseshoes); two gas fireplaces. Weekly rentals run Saturday to Saturday. Hungry Mother State Park has three campgrounds. Campground A has all electric and water hookups (park has dump station) and accommodates various equipment types up to 35 feet in length. Campground B is located near the cabin area and also features sites with electric and water hookups, equipment up to 35 feet. Campground C is for tents only. There are no hookups and tents must be placed on 16' x 16' tent platforms. Electric hookups accept 20 and 30 amp current. All campsites have a picnic table and fire ring. Firewood is available for a nominal fee. People visiting overnight guests must leave the park by 10 pm and pay parking fees. One vehicle per campsite in addition to camping unit allowed. Others must park in parking area and pay parking fee. Hungry Mother State Park is also home to Hemlock Haven Conference Center. This in-holding of Hungry Mother State Park, long serving as an Episcopal Church camp, was purchased by the state in 1986. After considerable refurbishing, the facility opened in 1989. Facilities include meeting rooms, cabins, a swimming pool, sports complex and picnic area. The conference center is an excellent place for family reunions and can accommodate up to 78 overnight guests. With enough notice, housekeeping cabins and a lodge in the main park area may also be reserved to increase overnight capacity. Packages and fees vary. Call the conference center at (276) 781-7425 for more information and reservations.
