Mission
Misericordia University is a place where caring, motivated students get the high quality education they seek, the attention they deserve, and the opportunities they need to be successful. Nationally known for producing talented graduates in the health sciences, including nursing, occupational therapy, physical therapy, medical imaging, clinical laboratory science, pre-med, pre-vet, and speech-language pathology, MU offers a combined 35majors at the undergraduate, graduate and doctorate levels. According to national surveys, including the National Survey of Student Engagement, Misericordia students rate the support they receive from faculty and staff for their academic, social and personal lives significantly higher than students at other schools rate theirs. Misericordia students also report significantly high levels of satisfaction with advising and access to faculty than students at other comparable schools. In order to maintain a personal environment, the University intentionally limited freshmen enrollment in select years with high demand. In the tradition of its founders, the Religious Sisters of Mercy, Misericordia believes that serving others builds better leaders and leads to successful careers and rewarding lives. The University offers special service learning opportunities in our local community as well as around the country and internationally in Jamaica and Guyana. The University's research focus is one that stresses teaching and learning. Undergraduate research programs in a number of disciplines including the health sciences, humanities, biology and chemistry are popular. Noted for its beautiful 120 acre suburban campus, the university boasts a first-rate library, physical education complex, an ultra-modern dining hall, new and renovated residence halls and a recently completed world-class soccer and lacrosse field.
