- Mission
- Located in Montana's state capital of Helena, Carroll College is the Northwest's leading, four-year, Catholic liberal arts and pre-professional college. With 1,450 students and an average of 13 students for each professor, Carroll offers an affordable, student-centered education with proven results. Carroll graduates are highly prized in the professional job market and are accepted to the nation's best medical, law and graduate schools, with some of the highest per capita admission rates in the nation. Among Carroll's academic achievements: 84 percent of Carroll pre-med students applying to medical school are accepted (the national average is 50 percent); Carroll graduates pass the CPA exam at a rate that is three times the national average; and 90 percent of Carroll nursing majors pass their national professional examinations on their first attempt. While still in their undergraduate years, Carroll natural science students have discovered more than 10 new species. In national competition, Carroll also wins high honors. Carroll's Fighting Saints football team has won five NAIA championships in the past six years, all while maintaining a record number of nationally recognized scholar-athletes. The Carroll Talking Saints forensics team, a training ground for future attorneys, public servants and business professionals, is ranked in the top three of all colleges and universities of all sizes nationwide and has reigned as the Northwest regional champion for the past 18 years. Carroll's faculty members are consistently recognized for their excellence, earning Fulbright Scholarships and awards for leadership and scholarship in their fields. In the sciences, Carroll professors and their students perform groundbreaking research across the globe and publish in a variety of disciplines, from the hard sciences to history. During the 2009-2010 celebration of the college's centennial, Carroll College is launching a variety of new majors, centers of study and facility changes to enhance the student learning experience. The addition of more natural science majors, laboratories and further emphasis on the college's environmental studies and pre-law programs are occurring now. A Center for Peace and Social Justice will build on the college's tradition of educating students for service to the human family both locally and abroad. Carroll's Human-Animal Bond Program, the first of its kind in the nation, educates students to train dogs and horses as service and therapy animals. Service and an examination of social justice issues are hallmarks of a Catholic higher education. Carroll's focus on service and social justice takes many forms, starting in the freshman year with Alpha Seminar's study of a social problem and taking action to solve it. Service learning in and out of the classroom continues for Carroll students throughout their undergraduate experience, with almost every Carroll undergraduate choosing some sort of volunteer activity in service to the human family. Because of its small size and philosophy of respecting all people, Carroll's campus life is fun, welcoming and constantly exciting. Activities on campus offer something for everyone: concerts, dances, intramural sports, more than 40 clubs, theater, campus newspaper, college radio, choir, films, athletic events, Campus Ministry Fellowship, and more. National speakers regularly appear on campus, and outstanding cultural events are available to students throughout the year.
