- The park itself is a wildlife refuge, but hunting is allows on the lake itself and in designated hunting areas around the lake. The Charles "Butch" Olofson Shooting Range is about 3 miles northwest of the park entrance. The park is on a 91-mile route that from Bike Creek State Park to the Ledges State Park and to Springbrook State Park. Camping is not permitted, but there are camping areas about nearby at Saylorville Lake.
