- Mission
- Bellarmine University prepares its students for success with a broad, liberal arts education combined with training for mastery in a specialized area. We engage students in the classroom and expand their horizons through internship and study-abroad opportunities. State-of-the-art facilities like the Norton Health Sciences Center and a Service Learning Clinic offer real-life, hands on experience for nursing and doctor of physical therapy students. Bellarmine delivers this world-class education just five miles from downtown Louisville, the nation's 16th-largest city. The 135-acre campus is set in a safe, historic and eclectic neighborhood, and features a fitness center, indoor and outdoor tennis courts, a sand volleyball court, athletics fields and a newly renovated caf??. Recent additions to the campus reflect the university???s academic emphasis on a liberal arts core curriculum surrounded by competitive graduate and professional schools, while the campus library houses the largest collection of works by and about internationally renowned author and Trappist monk Thomas Merton. With more than 50 clubs and organizations on campus and 18 NCAA Division II athletic teams, and Division I men???s lacrosse, Bellarmine offers a variety of recreational opportunities for all students. Students who live on campus also find a Bellarmine difference in the living arrangements. From traditional college residence halls to apartment-style and suite living arrangements, students have many housing options. The university has opened the first half of a new residence hall complex that, once complete, will surround a Tuscan-style piazza. As Bellarmine attracts more residential students, there is a need for more places for them to hang out. One such place is the caf?? on the ground floor of the Siena Primo residence hall. All halls offer amenities such as laundry facilities, computer labs, study rooms, and air conditioning.
