- Almaden Country School is a small, private, Preschool, Kindergarten, Elementary and Middle School located in Almaden Valley in San Jose, California. At Country School we strive to be more than simply an outstanding private school. We work to be your personal school — that unique place where your child’s own unlimited potential drives the creation of a personalized learning experience. Almaden Country School promotes the belief that children learn best when instruction is age-appropriate, highly individualized, and joyful. In addition to core subjects, Specialist teachers provide enrichment instruction to students in preschool through eighth grade in drama, science, art, music, French, and P.E. In the middle school, electives include Spanish, speech and debate, videography, Web site design, social justice, introduction to the stock market, and more. Almaden Country School aims to provide a range of learning opportunities in a broad, balanced liberal arts curriculum. Our class sizes are small, with kindergarten classes limited to 16 students, elementary classes at 20-22, and middle school courses ranging from 6-24 children. Country School maintains a student/teacher ratio of 9:1. - Typical Day-in-the-life
- Each day begins and ends with 'circle time.' During circle time, students take turns leading the class in a set of reading and math readiness activities, such as 'calendar job,' sharing, and reciting songs and rhymes learned in prior classes.
