Alabama Ear Nose & Throat Specialists is made up of a team of professionals dedicated to providing the best quality healthcare in a responsive and caring environment. Our otolaryngologists are Board certified with decades of experience in the profession. They work in concert with nurses and office staff who try to understand your health issues quickly and apply the right treatment to get you back to your optimal health. We also have two Audiologists on staff to assist with the diagnosis and treatment of adults and children with hearing and balance related disorders. A native of Maryland, Dr. Shields received his undergraduate degree from Samford University and his medical degree at the University of Alabama School of Medicine. He completed an internship in general surgery and a residency in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Texas Medical Branch in 2005. Dr. Shields is board certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology and is a fellow of the American Academy of Otolargyngology � Head and Neck Surgery. He has been in practice in Tuscaloosa, Alabama since 2005. Dr. Shields provides ear, nose and throat care to adult and pediatric patients. His particular areas of practice interest include the medical and surgical treatment of sinusitis, pediatric ENT, allergies, nasal obstruction, snoring, obstructive sleep apnea, and the treatment of acute and chronic ear problems like infection, hearing loss and vertigo. Dr. Craig Benoit has been in private practice in Tuscaloosa since August of 2002. Dr. Benoit graduated from the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in 1996 where he then continued his training to complete a 6-year surgical residency in Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery. During his time at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Dr. Benoit trained at the Vanderbilt Voice Center where he studied Laryngology and Care of the Professional Voice. The scope of his practice includes all areas of adult and pediatric ear, nose and throat disorders. Aspects of Dr. Benoit�s practice in which he has special clinical interests include caring for children with ear, nose, and throat problems; laryngology and care of the professional voice; thyroid surgery; and management of chronic ear diseases, including hearing loss and dizziness. Dr. Benoit is board certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Otolargyngology/Head and Neck Surgery and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
